From the first site visit to the last plant in the ground. The only thing you need to do is say yes.

1
Site Assessment, Permits & Utility Research
We measure your strip, review SF right-of-way records, and check ADA requirements. We file a mandatory 811 utility call marking gas, electric, water, and telecom lines, then cross-reference SFPUC and PG&E lateral maps. Utility zones are documented on your grid plan. Permit research and filing are included.
811 filed · SFPUC + PG&E maps · Permit included
2
Grid Plan & Plant Design
Your strip is mapped square foot by square foot. You choose a native palette from our curated selection. We produce a visual plan showing exactly what your finished garden will look like — before anything is touched.
Visualization delivered before work begins
3
Soil Restoration
Concrete removed and recycled. The soil beneath — typically compacted and depleted — is aerated, pH-tested, and amended with compost and native-appropriate nutrients. Biochar is added for water retention and long-term soil health. This foundation determines whether a garden thrives.
Aeration · pH testing · Compost · Biochar
4
Installation & Ongoing Care
Full planting in a single day. You receive a labeled plant map with seasonal care notes. A two-week follow-up check is included. Optional quarterly maintenance keeps your garden thriving without any effort on your part.

Plants

Four palettes.
Infinite character.

Every plant is California-native — selected for the Bay Area's climate, ecology, and the realities of an SF sidewalk. Zero supplemental irrigation after establishment. Chosen to feed bees, butterflies, and birds as much as to beautify the block.

Pollinator Highway
Succession blooms spring through fall. Maximum bee, butterfly, and hummingbird activity. Dynamic, changing, alive.
Pacific Aster · Clarkia · Buckwheat
Coyote Mint · Yarrow · Penstemon
Grasses & Structure
Dry grasses, warm stone tones, and soft green accents — movement in the wind. Textural, architectural, restrained. Honest to the California landscape.
Blue Wild Rye · Purple Needle Grass
Deer Grass · Sedge · Deschampsia
California Fescue
Bold & Blooming
Maximum color. Stops people mid-stride. Slightly more attention after year one, dramatically beautiful result.
Coast Sunflower · Douglas Iris
Monkey Flower · Cardinal Flower
Low & Easy
Ground-covering and resilient. Minimal care after establishment. For shaded strips, narrow plots, or low-maintenance living.
Creeping Sage · Beach Strawberry
Redwood Sorrel · Kinnikinnick
Block Program

Neighbors notice.
Blocks follow.

A single beautiful garden is visible to everyone on the block, every day. That visibility turns curiosity into conversation — and conversation into a neighborhood that breathes, cools, and blooms together.

20% off for every home on the block
Three or more homes enrolled together — everyone saves. We handle all coordination, scheduling, and permits across the block in a single organized effort.
Connected gardens, multiplied impact
A single strip provides habitat. A full block creates a living corridor — a route pollinators, birds, and beneficial insects can follow through the neighborhood. The ecological benefit compounds with every additional garden.
One block at a time becomes a whole city
We're building toward a San Francisco where every sidewalk strip is a garden strip. Each block that joins becomes part of something measurably larger — a cooler, wetter, more alive city.

Research & Transparency

We do the work
nobody else will.

Right-of-Way
Your strip, clearly explained
SF sidewalk strips sit in an unusual legal position — city right-of-way, your maintenance responsibility. Before every project we provide a plain-language summary: exact dimensions, legal status, what you're permitted to do. No guesswork. The document is yours to keep.

Underground Utilities
We find what's beneath before we dig
Every project begins with a mandatory 811 call, cross-referenced with SFPUC water lateral maps and PG&E service records. Utility zones are marked on your grid plan. Cells above utilities receive shallow-root species or decorative gravel at a reduced rate. You see everything before we touch anything.
